Ultimately, the Volt is a superior piece of economics when it comes to green cars. And Toyota is, for the moment, not producing a plug-in version of the Prius, so if you're in the market for a serial hybrid, the Volt and the BMW i3 with a range-extender are pretty much your only options, unless you want to go for a used Fisker Karma.
